Homemade Stock for Your Soup

Hey there!


Welcome back to the MOONLI Collective! So I wanted to share with you all a super easy way to make your own stock for your soup at home. Of course, you can buy the packaged stock at the store but you may have a food intolerance to something that is often found in most foods (garlic is in everything!) or you want to get as much nutrients as you can out of your stock.


Let's firstly define stock: this is made of any type of bones so chicken, cow, pig, deer, etc.


You can get some amazing benefits from stock that include


Vitamins & minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, and trace minerals. From the marrow within each bone you are looking at getting even an additional hint of vitamin A, vitamin K2, zinc, boron, manganese, and selenium. They have also that is found to improve brain function, assist with sleep, and support the lining of your digestive system (McDonnel 2020). This is important because you need a strong lining to be able to properly absorb those nutrients for your entire bodies function!



I wanted to give you all a very simple recipe to make your own stock at home for drinking on it's own or for your soups!


Gluten Free | Dairy Free | Egg Free | Nut & Seed Free



What You Will Need

Servicing Size: 4 people (if used for some type of soup)

Time: 3 hours


1 Kg (2.2 pounds) of bones (chicken necks, chicken carcaus, cow bones, duck bones, etc.)

Water

Celtic Salt (has many trace minerals)



Recipe


1. Using a large pot, place all of your bones in the pot

2. Fill you pot up with water just until the water is just above the bones

3. Put on the stove on a high heat & bring to a boil

4. Once it is brought to a boil, turn it right down to a simmer and add 4 cups of water

5. Add 5 Tbsp of salt

6. Place the lid on top of the mixture and leave

-Continually check every 15-20 minutes

-Leave for 1 hour

7. After 1 hour, add 2 more cups of water to the mixture with 5 Tbsp of salt

-Leave for another hour

8. After 3.5 hours in total, pull off of heat and it's ready for use!
